When my girls were teenagers, we would walk in the evenings. Not only was it a great "bonding" time but we challenged one another on how fast we could walk. Walking together seems to activate the talk "button" and it was a great sharing time.

Talking with your teen can be a challenge when all you want to do is give advice and tell them what they should be doing. Remember to let your teen vent because they spend all day around adults who tell them what to do and where to go. Sometimes venting helps your teen become better communicators. You have to let them live even though inside you think you will die if they make the mistake you want them to avoid. If your teen feels comfortable talking to you, things are good for both of you!
Buying fruit and bringing it home won't make teens eat it. I got tired of throwing away fruit that spoiled in the refrigerator/icebox so I filled a bowl of fruit and placed it in the center of the kitchen table. Within half an hour there was fruit missing. Teens will eat it if it's easy to grab and run.
Fill a large bowl with apples, clementines, nectarines and plums it makes a beautiful centerpiece and also a healthy after school snack.
We eat bananas regularly but sometimes one or two get overripe. I used to pitch them but now I stick them in the freezer. I have a recipe (no nut for the teen with allergies) for banana bread that calls for two bananas so when I get two in the freezer I pull them out on Saturday and make the teen banana bread.
