I try to exercise outside in an enjoyable place as much as possible. It is really convenient to have an elliptical at home, but that doesn't "feed" my soul the same way as taking a quick-paced walk in the woods or doing some yoga in my yard. Good for mind and body! :-)
I add intensity to walking outside by wearing 1 lb. wrist weights and really swinging my arms. Sometimes I'll do curls or other lifts to the rhythm of my walking. I'm really a really good book about walking -- "Chi Walking" by Danny Dreyer.

Something that's helped me is to get out of the mindset that the only exercise is when I run, weight train, yoga etc. So many things contribute to an active lifestyle! Take cleaning for instance, cleaning your house burns an average of 300 calories an hour! It really helps me to look around myself and realize that I can be active and exercise outside of the traditional ways.334
Find a way to exercise while watching TV. I moved my stationary bike into the living room. Ugly, Yes. But so is that fat on my body. I will keep the bike in the living room until spring. Then I will be able to exercise outside
Snow and cold weather are no longer reasons not to be able to exercise! While riding the bike watching TV I also use the stretch bands for my arms.
I am going to loose 5 to 10 pounds and I am going to start walking more and a swimming more. More exercises and mostly fruits and veggies to eat. I will turn my life around and be healthier. In the heat it is hard to do a lot of exercises outside and even in the pool because you will burn up. Smile.
