We all know how important it is to keep moving--and how easy it is to cut back on sleep when there are many demands on our time. But I've learned that when I don't get at least 7.5 hours of sleep, life starts to unravel. I'm more easily tempted to skip exercise and eat mindlessly, and it's harder to focus on the very things I thought I was making time for by cutting back on sleep. The result: slip-ups, stress, self-criticism, and negativity. Get your daily ZZZZZZZZ! emoticon

    DAVID4621, I am subscribed a sleeping aid due to my insomnia. I wouldn't take it if I wanted to stay up late, which defeats the purpose. so, just recently I have set the alarm on my cell phone to one hour prior to getting 8 hrs of sleep. it reminds me to prepare myself for ending the night to make tomorrow a better day. this works well for me. try setting your alarm to remind yourself, this may help. JUST SAYING

    hi CALLIESWEET, I used to think that I could go at my same level with or without 8 hours of sleep. but since Sparkpeople, I have focused more on what it feels like when you sleep the 8 hours vs when you don't. yes, there is a great difference. I wholly agree with you. I am the grumpiest, most unpleasant person the next day. no focus, no drive, just wishing throughout the day it would be over soon and I can go to bed. not a great feeling. thanks for sharing.

    Unravel...the perfect word for what goes on with me without enough sleep. Thank you for posting this! It helps to know that other people have the same experience. It's SO much easier to stay positive and motivated and on track when I get 7-8 hours of sleep.

    It does make sence. I know that without enough sleep om always on edge and go off track when something goes wrong. However just like the failures I've faced daily making the right choises as to what I do or don't eat. I have trouble sleepinh at night. Going to sleep. I pretty much keep a reagular time every night. I go to bed, and end up tossing amd turning for 2-3hrs. You can guess the rest.
