I've added as one of my goals to walk upstairs a total of ten times a day. I never went unless I had a reason. Now I consciously count the times I go up. I don't count going down. emoticon

    I was looking for an area on the site to find info about stair climbing and came across the remarks made by a bunch of folks. While visiting in SC I am sleeping in an upstairs room. At home everything is on one floor. After starting to wear the pedometer for the HELP study at UCSD I became aware of how many times per day I walk upstairs. For instance yesterday I made 21 trips upstairs. So far today I've been up and down 8 times shortly after noon. It is totally amazing how we are doing the steps that we do. Getting to the goal of 10,000 steps per day still seems a bit out of reach in my current physical condition. That doesn't mean that I am giving up but that I have a way to go before I will be able to do it comfortably.

    I live in a ranch home, with a full basement........I also try to do my steps at least 10 times daily. Great For everything!

    I have no choice, our restrooms are upstairs and drinking 100 oz of water a day kind of forces you to go!

    I know that this sounds crazy but I will go up the stairs in our building to go to the bathroom simply because I know that it is better for me. It gets me up & it doesn't hurt to do this.

    I live in a trilevel house and babysit my grandchildren during the week here so I am constantly going up and down the stairs but today my grandson and I made a game out of the stairs and we went up and down ten times without stopping...the dinosaur stomp, he called it!

    I work in the college library and it has six flights of stairs...I usually do them everyday but my heel is messed up I have to wait until I get my inserts...the stairs is a nice and convenient work out for me.
