Next time you drive to your favorite fitness center for a workout, park as far from the front door as possible. I see people at my local 24 Hour fitness center driving in circles looking for a close spot. Why? Try to break this habit for the gym at least, and you may end up breaking it for good!
If your gym is within a mile, walk to it for a nice warm up and cool down.
I keep a list and pictures of the foods that tempt me the most along with their nutrition info and how long it would take me to burn off the food. For example: *Starbucks Cinnamon scone = 480 calories/18g fat/35 minutes of running; *Champps Bleu Cheeseburger = 1350 calories/75g fat/2 hours on the stationary bike I still indulge sometimes, but having this info front and center makes me think twice about my decisions and how often I indulge.
It's just an estimate of course, but I figured out the cals I burn based on my HR Monitor - i.e., I can usually burn 600+ cals in a good 1 hr bike workout, so I just figured it would take me 2 hours to burn off a greasy burger. You could also use the SP fitness database to ballpark what you burn
