Losing an amount of weight can seem really daunting - I have 50lbs to lose and thinking of it like that it is such a big number. So to make it easier I make myself mini goals. Reaching the next decade, stone (I am from the UK). My next mini goal is that I have 3lbs to go and I will be half way there! Focusing on a smaller amount of weight to lose seems more do-able and inspires me to move onto the next mini goal.

    A goal that I like for myself is 10 pound increments. I am starting at 247. My first goal is to get in to the 230's, then the 220's and so on. 247 to 239 or less is my first goal! Where my thinking goes awry is that I want to do it in a week or less. Realistically, I can do this in 4 weeks.

    I like this idea. I have a very daunting amount of weight to lose, I roll my own eyes when I think of it. I have heard of the 10% rule. Your health improves by an exponential amount when you lose 10% of your body weight. That is a lot more palatable.

    Yes, I agree. I want to lose around 30 or 40 more pounds. However, my current goal is to lose 10 by summer. Then another 10 by Oct. which is my 30th high school reunion. It makes it much less daunting to take it in 10 pound increments.
