When making any soups, stews or chili's with beans mash them a bit once you've submerged them in the liquid. This naturally thickens the liquid to a great consistency! This will also cut down your use of "cream" soups or flour (which means less calories!) Bon Apetit!
If you have a clear, not cream, soup to start your meals, the average meal will have less calories overall, even after adding the soup. It fills you up and since it is brothy, is more water and vegetables than fats.
My favorite soup is miso or vegan hot and sour.
