Add extra steps every day by parking (or getting off a bus) farther from the building entrance. Then, take at least one flight of stairs if you're able.

This may seem too small or trivial to matter, but it isn't! I almost always do both of these, but one day, I went to the gym with a friend and rode the elevator with her. It honestly took me longer to find my usual pace for walking!

A few extra steps and maybe a flight of stairs helps you "get started" with less effort!

No equipment is needed and you have the extra benefit of saving gas if you drive!

    If I do order dessert, I immediately share out portions to my fellow diners...that way, I get to taste a bite of something wonderful without having enough in front of me to be tempted to go overboard. If my husband and I are out together, we'll often order something to share. Also good, available at some places like Olive Garden, are little mini desserts (dolcini)- the portions are just enough to satisfy that sweet craving.
