I had a co-worker say to me "you know what to do, you're just not doing it". I wanted to say, I am doing it! But, I kept quiet while she boasted about paying to join a weight loss group next week. I thought, I see your challenge and it's ON!!!

I started a workout challenge to stay active while at home. I called it the World Cup Challenge. Every day I changed the rules depending on my mood. On days I didn't feel like doing anything, I told myself, "Just do 10 minutes to complete today's challenge!" I kept this up for 32 days, the duration of the World Cup. Just enough time to make daily workouts a habit.
This method kept me moving while eliminating guilt if I felt like I couldn't meet certain goals, like running for an hour. This challenge also got me experimenting with other workouts.
When I feel down about my progress, or about an event coming up that may derail me from my goals, or if I get injured, it's extremely discouraging and makes me want to give up. Instead of letting my pessimism take control, I turn it into a challenge! If I pull my hamstring and can't run for a week, I will challenge myself to do more strength training. If I'm attending my best friend's wedding, I take on the challenge of eating properly and dance my heart out to burn those Calories!
Bottom line: If you think your circumstances are the end-all of your success, they will be. Realize that if you overcome the hardest and most difficult moments, you will only have a reason to celebrate more in the end!
