My secret for holiday eating: I told myself I could go over no more than 2lbs gaining weight back for the holidays. I kept myself in check by still weighing myself everyday and when I splurged on cookies, cake or carbs, I did it moderately. I only had a small slice of cake or 2 cookies or a small helping of mac n cheese. I kept it to 2-3 small splurges per day and still exercised as well. I kept to my 2lb over goal and now I'm back on track!

If I get a craving for a particularly calorie laden food, I try to find the quintessential form of it...the best chocolate, freshest full-fat cheese, etc. and don't waste my calories on inferior varieties that will disappoint...even if they are more convenient. That way I savor every morsel and manage to satisfy my craving with far less quantity - a splurge should really FEEL like a splurge! 4
