This is cheap and compares to Tide with Bleach Alternative. Use 2 Tablespoons per load. Mix equal parts: borax, washing soda, Oxygen Cleaner, and powdered SUN laundry detergent. This really gets the stains out and whitens and brightens! Any powdered laundry detergent can be used in the recipe and mix it in a ziploc bag that has been closed! You can use Oxyclean for the Oxygen cleaner, but I use the off brand
Purex has made a product that is laundry detergent, fabric softener and dryer sheet all in one. Drop one in the washer and the detergent is released, put it in the dryer and the clothes come out soft and static-free. No more remembering to add fabric softener and the cost is comparable to buying detergent, fabric softener and dryer sheets. Less carbon footprint since you can buy refills as well. Love them!
They come in various fragrances as well. I don't know if they make a fragrance-free type or not.
Using the manufacturers recommended amount of shampoo, detergent or any other item in your home could save you money. How often do you fill the Laundry detergent cap to the wrong level? Do you use a quarter size amount of shampoo and conditioner? Are you washing excess toothpaste down the drain every morning? Face wash, lotions, cleaners all add up at the register. Read the labels, start measuring more carefully and save!
