I always buy the meat at the deli, not the packaged boxes. For eg. if I need 16.5 oz of chicken breast, I will ask the store helper to cut me a 16.5 oz portion instead of trying to look for a packaged box which almost always contains more than I need. That way, I do not add the few extra oz of meat to the dish.

Buy your prepackaged lunch meats in the hard rectangular containers you can find in the deli section of grocery stores. When you have finished all of the meat, don't throw it away. Just stick it in the dishwasher and keep reusing it for other items.
Freeze your meats in marinades! I buy meat in bulk, cut off the excess fat and pre chop it then I mix up my marinades myself (so that I can use less fatening items and healthier ingredients) lable the freezer bag with whatever you are mixing up then throw it in the freezer and forget it until you need it- this saves me a huge amount of time- all I have to do is pull the bag of meat out of the freezer the night before and I have flavorful ready to cook meats the next evening
I really love this because I can buy meats when they are on sale and the meat has a huge amount of flavor!!
