I track sodium on the Sparky nutrition tracker. Avoiding or at least limiting salty foods helps the Sparky water wash the pounds away with greater consistency.

Sodium is one of the many options one can track, in addition to the basics (calories, carbs, fat, etc.).

    Many people crave salty foods after eating a large carb-rich meal. Salt is one of the culprits as to why the opening of the arteries gets clogged up and narrowed. In order to prevent the progress of clogging and the hardening of the arteries in your body, salt that accumulates in the body and blood over several years can build up inside the arterial walls, forming plaque which clogs up the arteries, leading to more harmful effects like a heart attack or stroke.

Retaining excess fluids can leave you feeling bloated and delays weight loss...I totally agree
