If I keep within my calorie count, I give myself a small reward after posting all my food for the day. I have 30 sugar-free chocolate covered peanuts in a little box I made in my first pottery class (1 for each day of the month). If I've stayed within my calorie range I reward myself with a single peanut. The feeling that I've earned it seems to make it taste wonderful AND I'm proud to watch the pile go down.

I stay motivated by rewarding myself for success. The reward is always fitness oriented and is never food. Some of my rewards for reaching a goal are: a subscription to a health or fitness magazine, a new exercise tool, (weights, medicine ball, DVD, pedometer, etc.), workout clothes. The bigger the achievement, the bigger the reward!
Give yourself credit where credit is due! I have decided that giving myself rewards for "small" successes is important! I may not have a lot of money, but if it means spending a little more money to treat myself to new workout gear, gadgets, supplements, or DVDs I am worth it! I can cut out a coffee here or there if my reward is something wonderful! (especially if it will get me even closer to my goals, because we deserve it! HECK WE EARNED IT!!!)87
Many times we are eager to punish ourselves when we think we have failed. I have learned over the years we need to reward ourselves for our accomplishments and punish ourselves less. We all fail. The trick is to get back up and continue to try. And to reward our successes!
