Instead of mumbling about how much I hate weighing 201lbs, I have started saying "I love weighing 150lbs!" It has changed my negative mindset to a positive one because I'm no longer dwelling on something I hate about myself.
201lbs is my current weight, and 150lbs is my goal weight.

I personally don't think positive thinking is as easy as flipping a switch. But gradual re-shaping from negative thoughts can be made easier. Whenever any negative thought occurs (and you'll soon become aware of just how many you have daily!), immediately counter it with the opposite positive one. That way, your brain will start to get used to the awareness of the sunnier side of life. Reinforce the positive by spending more time thinking of the positive thought.
Predict you will eat better and work out more next week and you probably will, according to a recent study in the Journal of Consumer Research. The reason is that once you turn wishful thinking into a plan of action, that goal feels more accessible and your behavior becomes more consistent with your ideal.
Simple, but it works! Self-predictions can help reinforce good habits and disrupt bad ones.
