When I have fruit such as berries or bananas that are getting a bit too ripe, I lay them on a plate and pop them in the freezer. When frozen, store them in zip lock bags for smoothies. I cut bananas into 4 or 5 pieces first. Just pop them into the blender along with milk and yogurt for a delicious cold smoothie.

When I get my snack cravings at night and I just can't take it, I eat something sweet and ripe: fruit. I've found that fruit has a lot of sweetness (especially some of the just getting over-ripe stuff) that satisfys my sweet tooth and is more filling than chocolate! Give it a shot! It could work for you, too.
Just pack your fruit in early, and drink it. Even if you don't like eating fruit or cutting it up, smoothies are easy. Start with a ripe banana, add a little plain yogurt or skim milk, add a mix of other fruits... berries, half an orange, pineapple, peaches, etc.
This is a good way to pack in some fruit early, and it's a healthier (and faster) breakfast than some other choices. If you like, use frozen, precut fruit.
