When eating out, ask for a to-go box at the beginning of the meal. Put half of your entree and sides into the box before you start eating. This reduces the temptation to overeat and you can enjoy the remainder at your next meal!

I used to think that if I ate healthy, I would get into the habit of eating healthy and it would "become second nature." But now I think it isn't the healthy eating that becomes second nature. It is the vigilance, creating healthy opportunities, insisting on healthy options, bringing your own snacks and lunch to work, modifying orders in restaurants, etc. that becomes second nature. What becomes second nature is putting your health first and doing what it takes to maximize it.
I have become my own motivator. When it comes to eating I will tell myself NO I WILL NOT EAT ______ and usually I won't. I was so tempted to eat some French Fries my husband bought on a late Saturday night but instead I decided not to because it wouldn't be worth it. I also tell myself to go further on my work outs. I find my own motivation sometimes better than other people trying to motivate me.
