Does Brown Bag Popcorn Work?

Members Were Sparked
This Sparked Me!

How many places have you read that you can take a lunch sack and popcorn kernals and make your own DIY microwave popcorn? I never believed it - but it's true! Kernals in a brown bag, fold the top a few times and pop for about 2.5 minutes - today I topped mine with feta and smoked paprika! YUM!

... no oil, no butter (but you can use spray butter)

after popping, spray with a small amount of cooking spray or spray butter and sprinkle with nutritional yeast (NOT baking yeast) from a health food store. It has a delicious taste like cheese and boosts B vitamins.
HARTMOM7 7/16/2013 1:27:00 PM MUCH popcorn do you put in the bag?

If you are popping popcorn on the stove in a pot/pan with oil be sure to cover ithe pot/pan with the lid so that the steam can help to pop all the kernels evenly without burning them.

I look forward to trying this. I love popcorn, but don't own an air popper, and HATE the taste of microwave popcorn that they sell in the stores. It's not good for the body and there's is a smell of palm kernel oil that I can't stand.

Have been doing this for years. Have not tried it adding feta and paprika.
Guess what is going to be my evening snack?

I have been popping corn this way for years. Wouldn't do it any other way. I usually just add some spray butter. White kernels are my favorite.
