Before I hit the grocery store I make sure that I eat a healthy breakfast or lunch. In that way I am not hungry while shopping, and everything on the shelf is not calling my name. You know when the cashier's line is a bit long you end up by the candy or the chips don't bother getting one to satisfy your temptation remind yourself you've got a couple candy bars that added to the weight you're trying to get rid off. Works for me everytime.

Every Sunday night I like to make a list of all the stuff I will eat for the next 7 days by browsing spark receipes and staying within budget I go to the store with an exact list of everything I need, I dont stray from the list which helps me avoid buying unhealthy fooda that I dont need.
Also never go shopping hungry, that way you avoid impulses even more
