When I sit down to watch evening TV, because I cannot give it up, I keep fruit on a plate and eat the fruit instead of chips or anything else. If I don't eat them, it's okay. If I do, it's still okay because I have already added them to my tracker. So there are no chips or snacks to reach for that are not healthy. Some people don't like to eat so much before bedtime, but I start munching around 8 pm and quit by 10 pm. I am usually asleep by 1 am, but never on an empty stomach.
I have a "grouping" under my nutrition page that is for Evening Fruit Snacks. I have an orange, some cherries, a grapefruit, and apple, and a banana on hand when I get the munchies. These are pre-recorded into my Nutrition Tracker daily and I remove the fruits that I do not eat. And maybe yogurt!

When I am watching TV, I do some sort of exercise in the commercials; walk in place, bicep curls, squats. This gets me a little extra in at the end of my day, and I don't feel guilty about watching TV instead of exercising...I can do both!
I have decided to not watch TV during the summer months by disconnecting my TV. I am doing more walking & outside activities by not watching TV. This way I am hoping this will break the plateau I have been on for the past six weeks.
