Since this is a life style change and not a diet I needed to learn how to eat deserts. So I now eat them in cupcake papers. Ice cream or apple pie, or a piece of cake in a cupcake paper looks festive and sufficient as compared to the same amount lost on a desert plate. Double satisfaction, having the desert and remaining in control.

What I DON'T keep in the House on a Regular basis!
Cream Cheese, cookies, brownies, soda at all [no diet, nothing],cupcakes, donuts, high cal pizza[we go for Kashi Med. pizza @ 290 for a 1/3 slice],cakes, pies, ice cream[we go for frozen yogurt instead!~our fave=Chocolate Fudge Brownie Frozen Yogurt by Dreyer's!]. We know we eat processed foods, just changing our preferences on what not to eat! What foods do you keep out of your house?
Go get that Ice Cream... just don't bring it home.
Sometimes you just plain want ice cream (or candy or cake or pie) and you want it bad. My suggestion is to go to the ice cream shop and get a dip or to the bakery and get one piece of cake. Buy one serving, eat it and be done with it. If I buy a carton or make a cake I end of eating all of it.
I get happy just thinking about warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream. I just tell myself LATER. I can choose to eat fattening foods, but I have to plan them and track them and not eat impulsively and mindlessly. Knowing I CAN have that warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream later keeps me from feeling deprived. 224
My goal is to create a healthy lifestyle for years to come. Life can't be all salads and cottage cheese. I rarely choose to eat high-calorie foods while I'm trying to lose weight, but knowing I could if I wanted to keeps me from an unbalanced all-or-nothing state of mind.
