Every time I think I want to eat or drink something that is not positive for my weight, my diabetes or my high cholesterol condition, I stop and say, "I DON'T NEED THAT." Emphasis on the word NEED. Seems simple, but it works for me.
Instead, if I am home, I drink cold water with fresh lemon or lime squeeze. If I am out, I breathe deeply 6 counts in, 6 counts hold and 6 count slow release.

Everyday, I save at least 200 calories in my "food bank" for a (preferably salty) snack in the evening! This way, when I crave a snack after supper (salty or sweet) I don' t go over my set calorie goal for the day.
I also give myself a "reality check" to make sure I'm actually hungry, instead of bored!
I set up 3 accounts on Quicken. One for savings & investments. One for mortgage, credit cards, loans, etc. And one for checking accounts I use to pay bills, etc. It is motivating to see the Debt decrease and the Savings grow every month. It is also a reality check to track how much you owe or save.
Keep a record of the total in the Savings and the Debt accounts each month, maybe in a ledger. Otherwise, to track progress, make an entry called ZZZ so it is at the bottom of each list. At the end of the month, enter your total, then make another entry to zero it out.
