Every pound puts excess stress on the joints. Drink tart cherry juice or eat tart cherries to relieve some pain and also almonds. Stay away from food that form acid in the body & red, green & yellow peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplants. It is also important to stay hydrated. Those that suffer should avoid MSG, wheat and wheat gluten as they give flare ups.
Eating avocado, cabbage, broccoli, celery, cherries, chestnuts and cucmbers help arthiritis.

I have arthritis and have had surgery on one knee and to help the pain I exercise even if it hurts because later the pain goes away and I feel better. I don't necessarily advise with all pain but for arthritis it helps a lot. A bicycle helps a lot and is less stressful
