When I start eating something good I can't stop and end up stuffing myself.
When I complete my portion I force myself to do something or think of anything other than the craving. Sometimes I think about the good I'm doing for myself when I stop eating even though every fat cell in my body is screaming to keep eating!! And after a while the craving subsides.

you are NOT addicted to food... you are addicted to the way food makes you feel or a memory associated with it.
Often times we eat because we are bored (something to do), to procrastinate (after I eat this), to celebrate (Let them eat cake!), when we are stressed (chocolate), when we are PMSing (really another type of stress), etc.
We eat because we remember... for instance, most people have happy memories associated with cake (birthdays) and chocolate (boxes of candy)...
Sometimes eating can be self-hating too... to go against someone who criticized (like the mother that berates her overweight daughter or the husband who has stopped touching his wife).
You just have to figure out why and work from there. Like any addiction, there is a cause. Addiction is a symptom.
