Keep Lettuce Fresh Longer

I buy romain lettuce in bulk from a warehouse club and keep it fresh by putting the heads in zippered plastic bags (unwashed) with a couple of paper towels. The paper towels absorb the moisture and the lettuce stays fresh for up to 2 weeks. This also works for other veggies and salad greens like spinach.

I too buy the romaine lettuce in bulk, but usually get some aggrevated that I can't eat it fast enough. You're idea is good. AND I know it does help. BUT I saw something so "fascinating" to me on Pinterest. You chop or tear your lettuce, put in a mason jar & seal using the canning seal aparatus on your food saver. (You do have to buy the wide mouth sealer, it doesn't come with the food saver, but it's worth it). Guess what I'm picking up this week? Mason jars! AND they're reusable too!
