Sneaking In Exercise

I sit at a desk all day long. So I decided to start doing little exercises whenever I can sneak them in. For example every time I got to the bathroom I do at least 10 squats or sometimes I'll sit at my desk and raise my hands in the air till it hurts (this is when I know no one is around). It may sound stupid, but after a few weeks I already see a difference.

    I SO do this! Desk job really kills a persons activitly level and "steps" per day. So I add at every opportunity. Walking, stairs, going to offices instead of IM, squats at the copy machine, etc.

    I started doing this when I joined Sparkpeople! I do my crunches and push-ups (floor exercises) at home in the morning. Then I do the squats, lunges, calf raises, triceps dips at one or more trips to the bathroom during the workday. Sometimes I use the Handicap stall rails to do push-ups, tricep dips, etc. (We have a small workforce, so I would never take up the handicap stall if it was needed.)There are also benches in the locker room that I use sometimes for seated exercises. I notice a difference in my waist and legs - the uniform fits looser already! emoticon Great idea!

    I "sneak in" exercises when I go to the bathroom at work. While I am washing my hands I walk in place. Sometimes I do a set of lunges or squats. I want to make sure nobody can see me because I am embarassed but sitting at my desk all day I think has really contributed to me gaining the weight in the first place. I feel that this also gives me a little extra energy and helps me get thru the day.

    I do this too! My office is upstairs so instead of letting my paperwork pile up and making one trip I go downstairs each time I need to take something down. More trips = more exercise. I also stay moving when I go outside to take a smoke break. Walk around the parking lot is a great stress reliever too.

    Good to know. Lol.I thought I was a weirdo. I'm going to start walking to offices. Thanks for the idea. emoticon
