I have recruited my 14 yr old daughter to walk for an hour with me most evenings and my 10 yr old son to walk for 30 minutes with me in the morning.
My son has trouble getting to sleep at night so by getting him up an hour earlier for some alone time with me he feels more ready to sleep at night and my daughter gets valuable talk time with mom without her brothers or dad around.

For those of you like myself who have children...don't just help yourself lose weight, help your child stay healthy and active. Do exercises that your child can also participate in at home such as dancing, walking, jumping jacks, etc. I enjoy the quality time with my child while still accomplishing my exercise goals. Buy a child's plate (divided into three segments) and child's utensil set. When you use a child's portion plate, you are more likely to get the correct portion sizes. The smaller utensils will force you to take smaller bites. Smaller bites will allow you to eat more slowly and you will begin to feel fuller faster.
Children's plates / utensils are inexpensive.
I tell my spouse (who eats better than I do) ...when i am craving someting bad for me or if I've cheated...he is great at dicouraging me when I am tempted or giving me just enough grief when I have eaten poorly.
I guess it's like child hood...another adult holding me accountable seems to help
