Be Honest With Yourself When Categorizing Spending
Members Were Sparked
When figuring out where your money is being spent, be very wary of tricks used to "lie" to yourself. For example, do not get cash back when using a debit card at a grocery store - then track it as "Food".
This really helps narrow down where money can be saved. Withdrawn cash is easy to spend without thinking already, and when hidden in the wrong category, hard to identify ways to save.

website called texthog. You can set up a free account that shows you a pie chart of your spending. It allows me to e-mail texthog using my smartphone, with info about how I am allocating money. Every time I buy , I e-mail texthog. Then I can keep track of spending each month

Filling in my foodlog, my husband said, "What good is that if you lie about what you eat?" I told him "Exactly, why bother if you're not honest." When filling out your foodlog, be honest. It's most hepful if you are honest with yourself. You gotta love yourself so you can help yourself ;^)
