Your body needs to be "shocked". Try golfing, rock climbing, hiking, running, walking, roller blading, dancing, gym classes, etc.

I never push myself in the gym as hard as these hobbies push me. My mom lost 60 lbs golfing. Since it is fun, you don't realize you are exercising.

    My son and I play ping pong together sometimes after school and on the weekends. As our skill gets better we get very competitive. It's lots of fun without realizing how much you are really moving around, especially when you're the one bending and picking up all the balls from the floor!

    I am an avid metal detectorist, and I have so much fun that a short treasure hunt turns into hours! I burn tons of calories with all the walking, climbing, bending, digging, and swinging the coil! Everyone should have a hobby!

    I agree. I started riding my bike for exercise and found that it was fun. Now I can't stop riding even when I do other exercises like Jillian Michaels DVD's. She hard and a nice ride on my bike is the icing on the cake afterwards emoticon

    Oh, one more thing, like some have said, now that they are losing weight they are able to get back to playing the sports they used to love. Workout in the gym to play at other things, otherwise it can become drudgery! When you see your sport improve because you are hitting the gym, it becomes a whole lot easier to keep on keeping on.

    Great comments and ideas everyone!

My daughter has Down's Syndrome and loves to play basketball. She is 29 and has a pretty good shot. We have a hoop and small court in the back yard so I have been going out and playing shoot arounds with her. Also, last year my wife took up golf and I took it back up from several years ago. We stopped last fall due to me having a broken foot, but we plan to get back out within the next week, at least once a week. Quality time with daughter and wife and exercise as well. Can't beat that.

    Great stuff, I totally agree.
There are many fun things you can do and enjoy and not have to refer to it as "Exercising", but still be burning up those calories! Have fun... ENJOY IT!

    Playing sports has really helped me keep in shape. I had let myself go so far, that I wasn't really able to get out and enjoy my favorite sports. But now that I have started losing weight and exercising I am really enjoying my return to softball, sand volleyball, and tennis!

    I agree. When the weather gets warmer and more stable (lots of storms) I have my bike ready to ride. I loved to ride when I had younger kids. It's time to get back into it.
