I put newspapers between my rows in my garden and cover then lightly with dirt- It keeps the weeds down and I don't have to use chemicals to control weeds. This fall, I just till my garden and the newspapers are compost for the garden.
I have started a herb garden in addition to my veggie garden[with flowers outlining it!] and since my hubby mulched the herb garden for me, those weeds are being stifled and much LESS showing UP! So, it's off to the garden supply store to get mulch for the rest of the veggie garden now! Am planning to show photos in my gallery of the gardens as they progress! The mulching also SAVES WATER as it helps to keep the ground moist so LESS WATER is needed!
Newspaper weeds away Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will g et through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.
