This is what I try to tell myself:
Starts and stops are part of the past. You can't do anything about them or change them. All you can affect is the right now. Track your food; get up and move.
And when my Negative Nelly becomes incessant, I write down the meanest, most sabotaging things she says and read them out loud. They usually sound ridiculous, and the absurdity allows me to tell her (myself) to shut up!
"Breathe in, breathe out, move on."
