I have a very small cutting board that is really too small for its' intended use. I put it on one of my refrigerator shelves and use that surface for small items that would tip or tilt if an edge caught on the metal. (soda cans, Activia yogurt or small containers)

Cutting Small, Round Fruit Quickly
Rather than cutting grapes, cherries or cherry tomatoes one by one, try this. Arrange the fruit close together on a cutting board. Take a flat object (such as the flat part of a plate bottom), and place on top of the fruit. Press firmly, but gently. Run a sharp knife through the fruit, halfway between the flat object and the cutting board. Voila! Several fruit cut at once.
My sister wanted a cutting board for Christmas. The one I bought her had a "channel" to collect meat juices on one side so they wouldn't go all over your counter. If you already have a cutting board, all you have to do is take a router and put the channel in with it and your all set! When you're done make sure you recondition the board with a little oil to keep it in good condition.2614
Cutting or slicing certain things can make a mess when juices run wild...save the mess by placing your cutting board inside a sheet pan or jellyroll pan...I place paper toweling under the cutting board with some overlap..slice away! the juices will run into the pan and if there are a lot of juices you have the toweling to help. I do this for meats, melon and anything I think will be really juicy.
