I'm currently on the second day of a clear liquid diet in preparation for some medical tests, and I have to say, there IS something kind of refreshing about it. I'm drinking Powerade, sipping chicken broth and eating Jello, and I'm not starving, and my stomach feels delightfully calm and rested. I'm thinking that it wouldn't be a bad idea to do this eery now and then even without a medical reason, just to take a break from some of the stress I put on my digestive system.
Obviously this is not a blazing new idea, since juice fasts and internal cleanses have been around for centuries. :) I guess this is the first time I really paid attention, though, to how it actually feels to give one's stomach a rest for a day or two. I get it now! :)
