Secrets of Success

No Soda!

Today is my ninth day without drinking soda. I was a Diet Coke addict and always HAD to have that fix. I unconsciously gave it up just after Christmas and haven't looked back. I feel better and my workouts (surprise!) are so much easier to complete.

More Information:

The key is to find something to replace it with. If you get bored of plain water, try green tea or the flavor packs for your water.

  • Good for you! I gave up soda several years ago. If I get the urge for a soda I just reach for the sparkling fruit water. You can buy them at any grocery store or even Walmart or Target. You get the carbonation and the fruit flavor make you feel like your having a soda. No fat, calories, carbs, or sodium :) - by KCOOK41
  • emoticon Good job on giving up soda! Keep up the good work. - by MIDLIFEGOAL
  • Ever since I was a teenager I drank a lot of Diet Coke (about a gallon a day), and every time I would go on a diet, I would drink even more. This is the first time in my life I completely stopped drinking all soda. The first week or two I felt terrible, trouble sleeping, tired during the day. Now its been about eight months drinking only water and I feel great. - by SOONTOBEFIT6
  • I also have almost completely given up Diet Coke. I would dink as many as 3 a day, sometimes more. Now its about once a week at the most, and I don't enjoy the taste as much as I used to. I carry a plastic cup of water with me where ever I go now, especially in the car, and I am enjoying water and find it refreshing too. ever thought I would say that!! emoticon - by KATHYD82
  • I get hardcore migraines and sometimes a 20 0z Mt. Dew (sometimes just a 12 oz) helps. I have had migraines for as long as I can remember and am hoping that this new life style change of drinking 8 cups of water and more exercise will help that also. Good luck keeping with it and I will think of how nasty pop will taste later to help me with my endeavor. - by CHRISSYC2B
  • I have tried a number of times to give up Mt. Dew and soda in general, but alas, I constantly find myself falling back on it. It doesn't help that I'm a college student with easy access to the "snack shop". When you've pulled an all nighter trying to study or get a project done and you pass that open door and see the coolers of's like a moth to flames! Suddenly, there goes whatever streak I'd had going for me! I admire your determination though! I'm going to attempt to kick my habit again this new year!! *Crosses fingers and prays for help and guidance and strength to do it this time! - by ALYKAT86
  • I am a Pepsi addict. I have tried to give it but cold turkey but I couldn't do it. I am trying now to cut back during the day. Keep up the good work and I will follow your lead. - by JEANNINEMM68
  • Keep it up! I gave up drinking Coke the same way over a year ago. I don't miss it at all. It is now to the point that just imagining the taste of it repulses me. I have so much more energy now, too. emoticon - by JANGLIN31
Good job! I too was once a diet coke addict and I know how hard it is to give up. I quit drinking diet coke back in August of 2011. I recently tried it again and found the taste disgusting. YEAH!!! - by SSUTHERS
