The Scale

I weighed in on the first day, and vowed not to step on the scale for another month. I knew that the change in eating was working because my clothes got bigger, but I was so surprised at the 12 lb weight loss. I only weigh myself once a month now. It is easier in the first couple of months for me. I tried doing it weekly and I got depressed when I thought it should be more. Be fair on yourself when you do weigh in. Weigh in on a good day for you.

  • Me too - I told myself I would wait one week to step on the scale and when I did I said - geez - nothing changed and yet I knew how much I tried. I am just not going to look at it and I'm going to find a pair of pants one size smaller that I want to fit into and use that as the first goal. - by REDHATBARB

I made the decision to buy a scale today with horrific results after making signifgant lifestyle changes in my diet and exercise. With a hundred pounds to lose...I became very discouraged when my scale didn't registered what I thought would be a big decrease.

I have felt amazing since beginning my healthy lifestyle and have lost a few inches...but became discouraged at the evil numbers on the dial! LOL

Glad to see I am not alone. I will stay on course! emoticon - by DYAN12345

This is so true... I think I needed this today because this whole week I was so good but when I stepped on the scale it showed an increase :( and guess what I ordered junk but I was feeling healthy by doing all the right things and this single thing depressed me. - by THISCANBEDONE

This sounds like a great idea - I do really well and then just seem to look at food and the pounds come back. I am going to commit to not weighing in for two weeks and plan on a pleasant surprise. Since I am just starting (again) I don't want to wait an entire month to be sure I am on the right track and doing enough to get going. Wish me luck! emoticon - by ANTICARB

There is nothing more discouraging than doing all the "right stuff" only to see little or no results on the evil scale. I decided I wouldn't let such a thing ruin my days anymore and also only weigh myself once every 2 weeks or so. Weight varies so much day to day, hour to hour even. There are better, more productive and more rewarding ways to measure progress (like a tape-measure, how your clothes are fitting, how you feel!) emoticon emoticon - by MABEHR50
