Foods like salmon, tuna or mackerel fish,nut oils, sweet potatoes and spinach lift spirits, and so do banans and watermelon because of folate. Low folate and thiamin cause depression. B Vitamins help with depression. Eat Asparagus! Some foods that cause depression are white bread, pasta (made with eggs), white rice, desserts, chocolates, fried food, processed meat, some condiments foods are laden with sodium & high-caffeine intake & alcoholic drinks. Dont be depressed try these foods.
Processed Foods might trigger depression. Yes, your diet can be associated with depression. Not enough omega-3 foods is another cause for increased levels of depression, as well as, junk food and sweets. Eat nuts, spinach or Kale asparagus, avocado, sweet potatoes, quinoa, apples, chicken and they will boost your mood. You will see a difference.
Lack of folic acid can be the major cause of depression, but junk food & processed foods are also the culprit. Heavily processed foods are laden with sodium & always lead to depression.
