Sometimes when I want to snack and know I'm not really hungry, I make something low cal that takes time to make. Ex. I bake tortilla chips and make fresh salsa, drawing out the time, letting the oven preheat, etc. It prevents me from eating random snacks and builds up the snack, so I get more pleasure from it and delay myself which allows me to take a step back and realize I'm not truly hungry.
