The most valuable skill I've been able to develop is to learn to listen to my body. This means you have to tune into those signals that tell you when you are really hungry, tired, anxious, angry, upset, in pain or in need of some exercise. It really takes practice to be able to do this on a regular basis. Especially to know when you are really hungry and when you are using food to meet a need other than hunger. The same is true of fatigue. If I am tired, I need to rest. Maybe I need sleep.
If I'm tired all of the time, I need to go and see a doctor and get myself checked out. If I'm in pain, I need to figure out where I hurt and why with a doctor's help. I may need to adapt my lifestyle to accommodate chronic pain. The one thing I don't need to do is ignore my body's signals!
One of the Emotion Eaters (Spark Team) goals is to start your day with a positive talk to yourself. What I do is set my snooze button for 5 minutes, but instead of rolling over an going back to sleep for those 5 minutes, I give myself a pep talk. Starting my day on the right foot is too important.
It is also nice to use the time to stretch those tired muscles.
