If you never thought of chili as a "diet" food start now. Make your chili with ground turkey, Turkey is full of important nutrients and add your favorite veggies. Also pearl barley has less of an impact on blood sugar more than any other grain. Barley's fiber, protein & low glycemic index all help stave off the accumulation of visceral fat. Make some Barley Soup or as a side with Turkey meat or pork loin.

I used to use a lot of diet foods, food that are a low sugar- low calorie counter part to their full caloried cousins, such as Slim Fast Desserts or diet soda with Splenda. These foods while satisfying a craving made me feel low energy.
Now I drink iced teas and enjoy whole foods which are much more satisfying and lack chemical additives.
I think most people are hesitant to diet because of fear of eating bland, "diet food". I have been more successful by learning how to make my favorite foods in a healthier way so I don't feel deprived of anything. Substitute lean ground turkey or extra lean ground beef for regular ground beef; bake chicken with a crispy coating instead of frying it; etc.
