Why? 2 main reasons. The 1st is convenience. If U ever travel, U'll need a credit card 2 reserve airline tickets, reserve a car & reserve hotel rooms. DON'T use UR debit card because the folks above will often put a hold equal 2 the amount they 'think' U might spend on UR debit card. It happens.
What do U suspect happens if a bill comes in or U use your debit card - yep, it bounces and causes an overdraft. #2. Keeping a credit card open and active keeps UR credit score up. Yes, U have 2 B using credit or UR credit score drops like a rock. Don't pay it off, keep at least $5 as a balance.
every month i quickly write down all my KNOWN expenses and deduct them mentally, so i might have $1500 in the bank but i say "well, i have $200 this month" so that i wont overspend and be stuck paying late fees! it only takes 5 mins a month, and if you also "deduct" some to go into your savings, you'll be shocked how quickly you save!
