I never change my clothing size so I know when I'm in my healthy weight range. If too tight, time to pay more attention to portions and move more. I wear them tight to remind me to be more careful. If I use a larger size, I will fill the space.
MORE INFORMATION:
I'm careful when trying on new clothes since a certain size will change over time. I use the scale when I need to, to confirm that I'm still where I need to be.

I totally agree! I have gone from size 12 to size 18 in 2 years! Everytime I felt my clothes were too tight I would go shopping for more new clothes, so you can imagine how much clothes I have in my closet because the clothes that don't fit I leave it there thinking I will loose all the weight in a month or so....DENIAL

Excellent !!! You would think that would be common sense but not -for me. As my clothes got tighter I brought bigger clothes. Over the past three years I have collected clothes in sizes 16 to 6 of course 8 is my preferred size. I don't know why I did not think of this tip sooner- I am cleaning out my closet and everything over an 10 that I can't have altered is going to goodwill. Thanks for the post

MORE INFORMATION:
Make a pact with yourself never to buy bigger clothes again. Unless you simply want to keep one item for nice "proof" photos of your former self. This is a huge motivating factor for me to keep my weight where it is, and not allow myself to backtrack. It's my "no-turning-back" policy
