Just Clean!

This Sparked Me!

I know it sounds silly but living with chronic depression, I've taken just about any route i can to improve my mental health and the best thing so far funnily enough is to just clean. If i see an unwashed cup, grabbing it and cleaning it makes me feel a little better. Dusty floor? 5 minutes of sweeping and i feel a world better simply because i know i just accomplished something (even if it was small =P). One teensy tiny accomplishment in an otherwise empty day can make a world of difference =)

You are inspiring. Many people living your same condition simply succumb to depression and end up destroying their lives. You are a fighter! and a good example to follow emoticon

I know what you mean. Living with chronic depression is not silly by any means. My cleaning habits are definitely not like they used to be & I have also accumulated a tremendous amount of clutter. There are many times I look at it all & feel all the more overwhelmed. And were it not for the other health issues I deal with daily, I would like to think I could do more each day. There are times where I just grab a box & empty it out. As you said, a little here, a little there, can all make a difference & it maybe only to ourselves. An accomplishment, no matter what size can definitely make your day & it's one less thing needing to be done. Wishing you much luck with "Just Clean". emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

How true your words are. If you ever need inspiration about the baby steps toward a clean house, check out flylady.net Excellent program, although you can get overwhelmed by all the emails--but it helps organize your effort and encourages taking baby steps to get out of C-H-A-O-S (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome). It has helped me, and I not longer feel guilty if I only get part of something done, because I know that what I am doing is working toward a great end.

I know how you feel. I am trying to do EVERYTHING I possibly can with a really bad sports injury and some personal health problems. Some days I am so knackered by doing nothing. Other days I get into a steamrolling mode and just do it! Every little bit counts though. I have to keep reminding myself of that and just stay busy and battle through it. Plus, I live in the UK. so we are dark already at 4pm and it hasn't hit it's worst yet- in the middle of winter we only have 4-5 hrs of light. I get SAD syndrome:( I just stay as busy as possible.

I relate! I have fibro and there are days I can't do much of anything. I do what you do - take it 5 minutes at a time. That's about how long it takes to clean around the pet feeding area, or to vacuum the hall. 5 minutes of washing dishes frees up a sink. a 5 minute spot clean in the bathroom works wonders.
