I started the year off walking my son to school. Time spent in the carpool drop-off lane is now spent walking with my son. Great conversations, teaching him healthy habits, sparing the air of carbon emissions and a bonus workout. I didn't realize I had grown afraid of the rain. Not anymore. Walking in it is an adventure through the eyes of a child, or an adult who is relearning how to really pay attention.
No special equipment required, though I guess a child helps. I see lots of neighbors walking during this time too. I am sure watching the kids walk can add a new dimension to the traditional walk around the block.
