  • Gosh I can sympathize with you! There was a time (a couple of years) where I was on all these medications and gaining weight. Strangely enough my doctor kept fussing at me to lose weight. One day I sat down and read about the side effects of all my medications. Next time I saw the Dr. I told her we need to find options that would not cause me to gain. (I also chided her for badgering me about losing weight while prescribing those medications that cause weight gain.) she was able to change some of them. Needless to say, I have a very long way to go and have hope that Spark People will help me get there. I hope this helps a little. emoticon - by JJ72003
  • Yes, I am also on numerous medications and found out from my Dr. that some were keeping me from losing the weight and yes, he kept telling me to lose weight because he said I am obese. Before the meds two years ago I was 160 now I am 269, one Dr. even told me to chose either breathing or beauty. I now know both are possible. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I have been on Sparks for four days now and I have already lost 6 pounds. - by LADY4JAY

i too am on meds and weight not coming off now. ive been stuck at 11/11 for 6 weeks. i have pcos and underactive thyroid. last visit to the hospital, told doc hair on my head is REALLY falling out! evenly, no bald patches YET! re-checked my blood, now I'm on iron tabs, dont want to go BALD! going to cut carbs, eat more protein, good fats and more water? its a diet i found on line.want to lose this last stone? lost 5 stone from diet and exercise over two years. its not easy when you have medical conditions to make it even harder! when im feeling low i look over old diaries to see how far i have come as i dont want to go back to16 stones again! if weight loss has stuck at 11/11 for now so be it? at least its not going back on, maybe when im feeling better the weight will start to come off again. hope so. stick with it, it may be the same for you if you are just a wee bit stuck at the moment too. stay positive/happy/up mood. good luck all xx

  • I too take lots of different medicines. I recently found a new doctor (for convenience, not because of poor care) and he changed almost all of my medications immediately! He told me that the ones I was on stopped me from losing weight, increased appetite, and made me retain lots of water. With new medications, I lost 9# the first month - without tracking food! I joined SparkPeople a month ago and can't wait to weigh in this week!!
Get an appointment and talk to the doctor about the meds. emoticon - by MSKINGER

  • I also take a lot of medicine, but I'm not giving up. I still believe that if calories are decreased and activity is increased I should loose. Now that I've found Spark People I feel more motivated to do what i can to make myself better. Together we will be able to accomplish our goals. - by JENAEE
