I absolutely LOVE taco salad but not the fat that goes with it. An alternative instead of high fat dressings and corn chip topping is to use pico de gallo as a dressing alternative. It's lower in fat and high in flavor-you dont miss the dressing. Instead of using high fat corn chips-use 1/4 of a corn tortilla. Cut into strips of chips-spray with Pam and bake until crunchy. All the rest can stay the same-lettuce, tomatoes, chicken or low fat hamburger, fat free beans, fat free cheese. Yum!

I love your idea with the corn chips! I've been eating a lot of taco salads this Summer and I've used ground turkey in place of hamburger since my cholesterol is high. Also, I mix in refried beans and chopped tomatoes into the meat sauce itself mainly because of my two year old, but it also adds more fiber to this excellent dish:). Thanks for the tortilla idea.
