If you walk or run around your neighborhood for exercise, make sure to use the "Map Your Route" feature on the fitness tracking page to get the most accurate numbers for your log. Furthermore, click on the satellite view once in a while. I was surprised to find I was "jipping" myself about .2 mile on every walk because the route I was tracking on the map view wasn't quite right!

My new passion since joining Spark People is to take bike rides. My neighborhood provides many routes which I like because it gives me variety. SP has a routing tool that lets you map your route to keep track of your course and calculate the distance you traveled. I love this tool! 332
The Fitness Tracker is a great tool. You can log how many miles you have gone in a day, a month or a year. You can map out routes around your neighborhood too. It's a useful tool to set a goal with.....for instance you can log enough miles to walk across the United States...652 or who knows......maybe to another country. Whatever you decide to do.....it's a great tool that is right at your fingertips.
Track your mileage and routes: see how far you have walked
I use the milage tracker to keep track of my walks with the girls (my dogs) I can map the route and have a weekly and yearly total of how far I walked. It is cool to come home and track the walk, guess how far we went, seeing that by going down that street I added this much.
It is really cool to see how far we walk every week, and how far we have gone in the year. Almost 600 kms now. Canadian. I also like that it will also tell me how many cals I have burned. I can save route we walk alot as well. All this helps to get me out the door and to take those extra steps.
