I would not waste water like that. Ecologically irresponsible

Good idea! I have a double dish drawer so it's not a worry for me, but anyway I believe it is greener to use a dishwasher than fill a sink then rinse your dishes. I pop my dishcloth and dish brush in there too to give them a good clean.

Living alone can sometimes make it hard to get a full load. I made sure that all my pots and pans are dishwasher safe and add the cats bowls to fill it up. I never have to run a load that is not full that way. I lived too long in water starved Southern California NOT to run a full load.

Thanks that is a great idea since 1. It doesn't take that much water, 2. I don't have to pay for water where we live.

The American Southwest is currently experiencing the most severe drought in written record. I can sacrifice a few dirty dishes to help ensure clean water for future generations.

Use Tang to Clean your Dishwasher
Our dishwasher is smelling and looked dirty. My Aunt told me to use Tang the powder drink mix. You only use a teaspoon and run the dishwasher on normal without any dishes. It cleans the dishwasher plus leaves a orange smell. Also, if you only use a teaspoon of dishwasher liquid soap or a 1/2 of the powder when you run the dishwasher the dishes come clean without any residue. Plus save money.
I used to never know how clean the kitchen towel was. Now I change the towel every time I run the dishwasher. Yes, every time. That means on holidays like Thanksgiving, I may change it several times. The dishwasher is a good measure of how much kitchen activity has taken place.
Check with your electric company to see if they have hours when electricity is cheaper. Phoenix has certain hours & if you sign up & run the dishwasher, pool pump, a/c & dishwasher & other appliances during the low peak hours, you will save money.
MORE INFORMATION:
Depending on the season, the hours vary. It's more expensive in the summer between1 PM - 8 PM so I avoid using appliances as much as possible during that time & wait until after 8:00 PM to wash clothes, run the dishwasher & the pool pump. Lower-cost, off-peak hours include weekends & holidays.
