The calories in onions are very low at about 40 calories for a medium onion, they are included in all types of weight loss diets & onions have the effect of lowering glucose levels in the body, by increasing the amount of free insulin. Trace minerals such as chromium increase the tolerance to glucose, & lower insulin levels. Grilled cheese & sauteed Onions are delicious. Try Onion Soup, cucmber and onion salad, a low calorie dip with tomatoes & jalapenos, in cottage cheese w/ parsley.

    I use raw onions with my turkey ham or with anything that I am using for breakfast.

    Just this past weekend, I heard on our local food news show that you can grill onions - lots - and use them during the week. Suggestions included grilled onion sandwiches, grilled onions on top of practically anything. Sounded like a good idea. Now it even sounds like a better idea! Sorry about the iBS. I have had a problem with that in the past, but for whatever reason it seems to be subsiding just now.

    IBS and onions are not a good combo. Glad you can enjoy them....I have tasted roasted onions and wish I could process them because definitely tasty. Enjoy! emoticon
