I allow myself one free day during the week. My free day is Sunday. I can eat something sweet. This keeps me from eating a desert everyday if I know I can have one once a week. Sometimes it is the good stuff like dark chocolate.
Free Week Trial Passes, Free Day Passes, Free Workouts, Etc.
ALWAYS SAY YES to offers for "A free week" or "A free trial period" or "A free day pass" at a fitness center, gym or club!! Those offers are a fantastic chance to shake up your workout, freshen up your exercise routine and try different pieces of cardio or weight equipment you might not have known about. Even if you have to endure a sales pitch and have no intention to join that gym, it's a small price to pay for some otherwise FREE "zing" in your fitness routine!
Last year, when my gym membership ran out and I couldn't afford to renew it, I gathered up "Try us free for a week!" offers from at least 10 local fitness centers, and literally was able to work out at all different places around town for 2 months, for nothing! It was so fun -- and totally legal!
By doing a little research, I am almost always guaranteed to find fun, FREE events in my city. Check out the local newspapers for free art walks, free days at zoos and museums, free festivals, etc. Some of these only apply to holidays and special events, but many are monthly community events.
