My mantra is ....well, one of them, I should say, since I have several to keep me moving forward and to stay on track, is: " Never give in, never give up and never surrender" Never give into the self doubts that sometimes want to overwhelm me, but if I do, I never give up control.
Not to the excuses, doubts or recriminations that inevitabily follow. Most of all, never surrender to those nagging thoughts that-- is it worth it, or more like, am I worth it?...for the answer to that is "YES, I AM SO WORTH IT!" Surrender is not an option.
One thing that has made a major difference in the way I look at eating well and exercising is that I try to treat myself with the courtesy and respect I would give a special guest in my home. Why would I treat myself as "less than" someone else, and then expect great results?
Treating myself with kindness means I try to avoid negative self-talk, I gently nudge myself into making better choices in food and activity, and I celebrate my successes, even while accepting my normal human weaknesses. I am so worth it!
